| Is Firefox really more secure than IE? Yes, but not because there is some intrinsic security system watching over your every click, attempting to save you from yourself. Firefox is more secure by virtue of (a) not allowing ActiveX objects to execute and (b) being less a less popular browser and thus a lower priority target for hackers interested in getting a good return on their time investment. Furthermore Firefox has a lot of good community "mojo," they certainly haven't pissed off as many people as MS so again, they're a low priority target. Is it easy to use? Yes, and this is the main reason I use it instead of IE. Firefox is a bit faster, has tabbed browsing, has lots of neat plugins that I use daily, etc. Anyone with half a brain and a good AV solution is fine with IE, I certainly never had any issue with IE from a security standpoint; then again I didn't just click "ok" to whatever the hell popped onto my screen. Does it still prompt me for AcitveX scripts etc? Firefox should not even allow ActiveX to execute, last I heard. If there is some ActiveX component added to an update I haven't read about, you can bet your ass it'll prompt you at least once. That being said the latest version of IE suppresses ActiveX notifications, stops execution, and puts a little bar on the top of the browser informing you that an ActiveX program attempted to install / execute.
